Subject: Official Visit to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
Following an official invitation from The Presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I, Dr. Jim Okolo, National Coordinator of Nouvelle Perspective International Election Observers (NPIEO) in Nigeria, had the distinct honour of attending a high-level meeting with His Excellency, the President of Nigeria, at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Saturday, June 1st, 2025 at 10:00 AM.
The meeting was both strategic and impactful, highlighting the President’s unwavering commitment to transparent, credible, and inclusive electoral processes across Africa. His Excellency commended the efforts of Nouvelle Perspective International Election Observers in strengthening electoral credibility in Nigeria and across the continent.
Key Highlights:
- Recognition of NPIEO’s neutrality, professionalism, and commitment to electoral integrity.
- Reaffirmation of the Nigerian government’s support for international observer missions.
- Expression of interest in institutional collaboration between NPIEO and the Nigerian electoral institutions.
- Discussions on building long-term partnerships to foster democratic development in West Africa.
Strategic Consideration:
It is worth noting that this engagement, though it coincided with our scheduled observation mission in Burundi, was deemed of paramount importance due to its strategic value for the growth and visibility of our organization at the highest diplomatic level.
Closing Remark:
I left the meeting with the President confident that NPIEO’s presence and work in Nigeria are deeply valued. We are paving the way for enhanced cooperation and broader influence in democratic affairs both in Nigeria and across the African continent.
Thank you for your continued leadership and support.

Dr. Jim Okolo
